Frequently asked

What does a Brazilian Blowout do to your hair?

It infuses liquid keratin deep into the hair shaft, seals the cuticle and eliminates frizz. The result is smoother, shinier hair that dries faster and requires far less daily effort to style. Think of it as resetting your hair to its healthiest, most manageable state.

How long does a Brazilian Blowout last?

With a sulfate-free shampoo and proper aftercare, results stay smooth and frizz-free for 12 to 16 weeks. Kayla finds that clients who switch to a good sulfate-free shampoo straight after consistently get the full 16 weeks before they need a top-up.

Is it formaldehyde-free?

Yes, 100% formaldehyde-free. The original Brazilian Blowout formula that made headlines overseas did contain formaldehyde, which is why Kayla personally verified and tested every product she uses before offering the treatment. Every product in the studio is certified safe, acid-free and suitable for coloured and bleached hair.

Which is better, keratin or Brazilian Blowout?

They are different tools for different goals. A keratin treatment focuses on relaxing texture and smoothing curl. A Brazilian Blowout seals the cuticle, adds intense shine and reduces frizz while keeping more of your natural movement. If you want straighter hair, keratin. If you want smoother, healthier and faster-drying hair with shine, the Brazilian Blowout is the better fit. Kayla will guide you at your consultation.

Which lasts longer, Brazilian Blowout or keratin?

Both last around 12 to 16 weeks with proper care. The Brazilian Blowout tends to fade more gradually, so hair stays manageable even as it grows out, rather than having a hard line of regrowth.

How long does the treatment take at Brazilian Bar?

Kayla takes between 1.5 and 3 hours depending on your hair length and thickness. Finer, shorter hair sits at the lower end. Long, thick or very textured hair needs the full time to get the result right. As Kayla puts it, it also depends on how tired she is that day, but she has never once rushed a client.

What are the disadvantages of a Brazilian Blowout?

It is an investment, both in time and cost. You need to avoid washing your hair for 48 to 72 hours after the treatment and switch to a sulfate-free shampoo going forward. It also gradually fades rather than lasting forever, so you will need a top-up every 3 to 4 months.

Can you wash your hair after a Brazilian Blowout?

Not immediately. Kayla recommends waiting at least 48 hours, ideally 72 hours, before your first wash. This gives the keratin time to fully bond to the hair shaft. After that, always use a sulfate-free shampoo to protect the treatment.

Can I wash my hair 2 days after a Brazilian Blowout?

48 hours is the minimum and is acceptable if you really need to. 72 hours is better. The longer you wait, the stronger the bond and the longer your results will last.

What not to do after a Brazilian Blowout?

Avoid sulfate shampoos, saltwater, chlorine, and anything that clips or ties your hair tightly for the first 72 hours. Heat styling without a heat protectant will also shorten the life of your results. Kayla gives every client a simple aftercare guide at their appointment.

How often should you have a Brazilian Blowout?

Every 12 to 16 weeks, or when you notice the frizz and drying time starting to creep back. Some clients book exactly at 12 weeks. Others stretch to 5 months if their hair holds well. Kayla can recommend a schedule based on your specific hair type at your first visit.

Is it worth getting a Brazilian Blowout?

If you spend more than 20 minutes a day fighting frizz or trying to get your hair to behave, then yes, absolutely. Clients consistently tell Kayla it has changed their morning routine. The cost per week over 16 weeks works out to less than most people spend on coffee.

What is a gentler alternative to Brazilian Blowout?

Nanoplastia is a gentler alternative if you have a sensitivity to certain ingredients. It uses a plant-based formula that is completely formaldehyde-free. As with any hair chemical treatment, we recommend checking with your doctor first if you are pregnant. Brazilian Bar offers nanoplastia at the same pricing as the Brazilian Blowout.

Can I do a Brazilian Blowout at home?

The professional-grade product Kayla uses is not available to the public, and the application technique and heat control genuinely matter for the result. Home kits exist but they are a different product with shorter results and less predictable outcomes. For a real, lasting result, professional application is the way to go.

What is the healthiest hair straightening treatment?

Nanoplastia is generally considered the gentlest option because it uses plant-based nanoparticles rather than chemical binders. Brazilian Blowout with a certified formaldehyde-free formula is also very safe. Both are offered at Brazilian Bar with the same transparent pricing.

What makes our Brazilian Blowout different

Kayla prices every treatment by the exact amount of product your hair needs, measured in millilitres before the session begins. You are quoted upfront before anything is applied. No surprises, no paying for product your hair did not use. This is the same professional standard used in top Cape Town salons, offered in a private, by-appointment studio in Kuils River without the city commute or city prices.

The conditioning step clients love most

One part of the session that clients consistently mention is the time spent under the hood dryer while the treatment works. It is a proper slow-heat conditioning phase that lets the product absorb deeply into the shaft. Most clients say it is the most relaxing part of their visit, and Kayla includes it as standard because it genuinely improves the result, not just the experience.
